Rural Culture on the Edge Catoctin Morning. by John Wolford Road2

Comments:  Protected by fencing from livestock and related bacteria, this tributary of the Catoctin Creek watershed flows into the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. The Catoctin watershed drains about 59,000 acres in Loudoun, of which over 90% is used for agriculture and forests, and is a source of drinking water, wildlife habitat and recreation. Virginia state reports show that the health and water quality of the Creek is impaired in many places from livestock, failed septic systems and wildlife, as well as from impervious surfaces as development continues.
