Rural Culture on the Edge Hillsborough Vineyards and Winery4

Comments:  Rural heritage can be sustained by a strong rural economy. David Lovett (1760-1841) built the original 2 story field stone house in the center of this photograph in the early 1820’s. The adjacent barn was built sometime later in that decade. The Baki family completed final renovations to the house and barn in early 2003, and converted the latter into a wine tasting room. In its short time under Baki’s management, Hillsborough’s vineyard and winery have grown into an important part of Loudoun’s flourishing wine industry.
